What if Minecraft was more than just a game?
What if it was present in classrooms and helped us learn about our city?
MINECRAFT AND MODERNIST ARCHITECTURE
MI.MOMO is an innovative educational project. It aims at the reproduction of modernist architecture buildings on the Minecraft Education platform, by students from schools in the municipalities of Faro and Loulé. The project is in its second edition and also has the participation of a school in Maputo, Mozambique. With the project we want to involve students, teachers, architects and other experts in modernist architecture, as well as the residents of the buildings to be reproduced.
MI.MOMO is part of the spirit of the Faro Convention, the Council of Europe's Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society. It underlines the importance of cultural heritage as an integral part of human rights and democracy. It promotes a broad and interdisciplinary understanding of this concept and its relationship with society, through the establishment of rights and responsibilities towards it. It focuses on promoting sustainability, access and use of digital technology in the heritage context.
