Let's travel throught food?

The project "Cataplanas of the Worlsd" invites you to travel through food. Sitting at the table, discovering new flavors and sharing experiences with people of different nationalities.
We invite people of different nationalities to discover the Cataplana Algarvia and to (RE)invent the recipe.
The result are Brazilian, Romanian, Cape Verdean, Pakistani and Moroccan Cataplanas.

Know who received one of these Cataplanas at home!

Euza (Brazil), Helena (Cape Verde), Iram (Pakistan), Diana (Romania) and Ikram (Morocco) cooked Cataplanas with ingredients from their countries for other families in Faro!
They cooked in their homes and shared the stories, knowledge and flavours of their home countries.
These cataplanas were raffled and shared with five families from Faro.

Discover our "Cataplana Cooks of the World"

Meet our "Cataplanas of the World" cooks. They are all volunteers in this project.
They are offering their time and sharing their life stories.

HELENA HORTA
Welcome to Cape Verde!

Helena was born on October 2, 1981 on the island of Maio in Cape Verde. She is participating in the Cataplanas do Mundo for the challenge of recreating a traditional Algarve dish with the flavors of her country.

DIANA MARICI VIOLETA
Welcome to Romania!

Diana was born on January 6, 1979 in Timisoara, Romania.
She is participating in the Cataplanas do Mundo to promote Romanian traditions in Portugal, in particular to share some information about the cuisine of her country of origin and to get to know other cultures.

EUZA SILVA
Welcome to Brasil!

He was born in the 60s, in a small Brazilian town in the region of Baiaa, called Guaratinga. Euza has a large family with ten siblings.
She started working at the age of sixteen so she could help her parents and siblings. Over the years and with the difficulties that were emerging in her country, she decided to take a risk and try to make a better life in Portugal.
On November 30, 2001, she arrived in Portugal, as she likes to say "in search of her ideals" and also with the aim of helping her family. In Portugal she started working as a caregiver, being responsible for a person with Alzheimer's for 10 years. She had several jobs (such as a supermarket waitress, assistant at a school and managed a cafe) and today I continue to work as a caregiver.
She claims that she has always enjoyed cooking. She really enjoys cooking for family and friends. However, she has never worked as a cook and has no training in the field although she enjoys learning techniques and new things. Euza says that she "cooks with a lot of love and dedication".

IRAM SHAHZAD
Welcome to Pakistan!

Iram has recently arrived in our country and still doesn't speak Portuguese but wants to learn. he is a good-natured person who is participating in the Cataplanas do Mundo project because he loves to cook. He believes this is an opportunity to meet people and integrate.

IKRAM EL KHAMLICHI
Welcome to Maroco!

Ikram is from Morocco, more specifically from Meknès but has been in Portugal for about 22 years. She has already finished her degree in Economics and as soon as she found out about this project she was very curious. The gastronomy in her country is very important and the fact that she can share cultures and stories through the cataplana made her even more excited to be one of the participants in this spectacular project.

Tertúlia Algarvia represents the realization of the dream of a group of friends, who, in 2006, decided to implement a space to promote the region's gastronomy, history and traditions.
After many plans, accounts and, above all, a lot of persistence, we opened our first space to the public in August 2013, in Vila-Adentro, the historic center of Faro.
In addition to meals, we provide demonstrations and cooking classes, craft workshops, exhibitions, business meetings, among other experiences. For this, we have several versatile, comfortable and welcoming spaces.
Alongside the activities in the Vila-Adentro space, in Faro, we also organize initiatives in other places, namely: catering services, demonstrations and cooking classes.
Another of our aspects is the development of projects in partnership with regional, national and international entities, in the areas of regional gastronomy, the Mediterranean diet and entrepreneurship.
