#ALBauhaus #NewEuropeanBauhaus
Reconnecting place and identity through ideas and projects that are Beautiful, Sustainable and for AllThis was the motto of the AL-Bauhaus Dream Factory, integrated in the official agenda of "The Festival" that celebrated the New European Bauhaus movement. More than 200 people attended the event, a very heterogeneous public in an afternoon full of activities.

The Concept
"AL-Bauhaus Dream Factory" aimed to celebrate the New European Bauhaus movement but above all to create a privileged space to imagine, dream and co-design the Algarve's future cultural spaces so that they are beautiful, sustainable and for all.
This event also intended to promote good practices, projects and creatives from Faro and the Algarve, whose work fits in the New European Bauhaus movement. |
The "AL-Bauhaus Dream Factory" took place at ARCM, situated in the "Fábrica da Cerveja" a prominent and emblematic building in the old town of Faro, which has recently been promised to be rehabilitated to become a cultural and creative centre.
The afternoon began with a creative design workshop - "Dreaming the Factory" - led by the Associação de Designers do Sul and featuring 2nd year students from the Jardim Escola João de Deus. |
The Exhibitions
The exhibition space featured the winning projects of the Regional Architecture Award and 6 tapestries, that were the result of the lix'ARTE project. These tapestries were created from rubbish (mainly marine) with the participation of students from schools in the municipalities of Olhão and Faro. This project was inspired by the work of the African artist El Anatsui.
During AL-Bauhaud Dream Factory, other projects and artists from the region working on sustainability issues were showcased. The plastic artist Joana Rocha offered the visitors her magnificent piece called "Bioco", the Amarelarte Association presented its project of recycling clothes "Upcycling Clothes and Minds” and Guilherme Gonçalves exhibited his garments and decoration inspired by the Ria Formosa.

Debating Ideas
The programming of the "AL-BAUHAUS Dream Factory" included a participated debate of ideas and concepts with a full audience, as part of this great movement that is the New European Bauhaus, with the motto "New Cultural Spaces". Amongst the results presented, we highlight the ideas of the students of the Visual Arts at the University of the Algarve, who drew attention to the overwhelming need to keep artists in the region, putting forward ideas for the creation of artistic residencies, workshops and galleries and revealing the will of the students and teachers to undertake efforts in this direction.

The Open Mic featured three very interesting talks:
