ABOUT THE PROJECT*:
Against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the challenge of passing on a positive message and unity through music, we present a version of the song "Spoitoresa" with the title "UmNião".
The musical base of Al-Fanfare musicians blends Balkan music, musical tradition "Lautari rhomá", Klezmer and Turkish with the voice of André Canário. The original lyrics pass the message that even if we are separated and living in a crisis, we need unity and hope for Portugal, Romania and the whole world.
Although socially distant, we must take care of everyone, remain connected and united to those we love the most and be aware and alert to what is happening in Europe and in the world. Music as a form of artistic expression and universal language promotes and enhances this connection and feeling of belonging to a global community, especially in times of crisis.
We intend to use our music as a vehicle of communication and awareness for the current problems of society and we hope that this project achieves that.
Al-Fanfare is an Algarve group that uses the sonic power of brass and percussion instruments to bring the joy of live music, on stage or on the move, wherever it performs. In more than 120 performances, it has done so at festivals, castles, parades and others in the South of the country.
Musically, the rhythms of the Balkans, Dixie and Latin music, result in a joyful sound image and improvisation to the mix, always for the sake of musical entertainment that is intended to be contagious and not to leave anyone indifferent.
