MI.MOMO.FARO distinguished with an Honourable Mention at the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage 2021
The project MI.MOMO.FARO, promoted by the Faro’s candidacy to the European Capital of Culture, was distinguished with an Honourable Mention for Approaching the Young Public, in the first edition of the Património.pt Awards, of the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage 2021.
Sophie Matias, Councillor for Faro City Council, said: "We are delighted to receive this distinction that recognises the capacity of mobilisation of the Municipality of Faro and the Candidature for European Capital of Culture, but mainly, to reward the effort and commitment of the teachers and students of our municipality. They were the ones who gave life to the project. This honourable mention will also leverage a second edition of MI.MOMO.FARO that will involve more schools in the region, more teachers and more students.”
Tiago Candeias, who represented MI.MOMO.FARO at the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage 2021, said: "We make a very positive balance of our participation. This event is a benchmark in the Cultural Heritage sector, not only at national level, but also at Iberian and International level. We had a great participation from the public. Everyone showed great curiosity, interest and desire to know the project in order to understand how two apparently very different realities (Modernist Architecture and Minecraft) can come together and be taught in such a fun and challenging way. The interest was widespread, with many architects and teachers from schools in the region wanting to know more about the project and discover the buildings built by the students in Minecraft. The feedback we received exceeded all expectations."
